Comfortable Diagnosis Process
with Home EEG Recording

EEG (Electroencephalography) is a method that plays an important role in the diagnosis of neurological diseases by measuring the activity of brain waves. However, the hospital environment can sometimes be stressful especially for pediatric patients. Therefore, the home EEG recording service helps children feel more comfortable in their own environment and helps obtain healthier and more reliable results.

Home EEG recording is a method used especially in the evaluation of conditions such as epilepsy, seizure disorders, developmental delay, sleep disorders, and attention deficit. By prioritizing the patient’s comfort, this application carried out by expert technicians ensures that the diagnosis process is easier and more reliable.

Performing the recording in the home environment allows EEG recording to be taken comfortably without taking the child away from their daily routine. In addition, since children do not feel at home the anxiety they experience in a hospital or clinic environment, more natural data on brain activity can be obtained.

Frequently Asked Questions

Neurological diseases seen in children include epilepsy, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), headaches and migraines, muscle diseases (muscular dystrophy), neurometabolic diseases, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, congenital brain anomalies, learning difficulties, tic disorders, sleep disorders, and neuropathies. These diseases can be brought under control with early diagnosis and regular neurological follow-up.

Pediatric neurology is a subspecialty in the field of Child Health and Diseases that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of brain, nerve, and muscle diseases seen in infants, children, and adolescents from birth until the age of 18.

If the child has symptoms such as frequent fainting, convulsions, headache, developmental delay, walking disorder, learning difficulty, or muscle weakness, a pediatric neurology specialist should be consulted.

Yes, pediatric neurology is a subspecialty specialization pursued by specialists in child health and diseases. Therefore, it includes both pediatrics knowledge and deep expertise in neurological diseases.

For children under the age of 18, the department that should be preferred is pediatric neurology. Because specialists in this field evaluate both child development and neurological problems together.

Neurological symptoms in children may appear in different ways depending on the age and the type of disease. The most common symptoms include recurrent convulsions or seizures, headache, walking or balance problems, speech delay, muscle weakness, sudden fainting, developmental delay, difficulty focusing, tics, abnormal eye movements, behavioral changes, and learning difficulties. In addition, in newborns and infants, difficulty sucking, excessive restlessness, weakness in head control, or abnormal growth in head circumference may also be neurological warning signs. When these symptoms are observed, a pediatric neurology specialist should be consulted.

Epilepsy in children usually manifests itself with recurrent loss of consciousness, convulsions, staring spells, blank staring, sudden jerking, or involuntary muscle movements. A doctor should be consulted when these conditions are observed.

Psychological difficulties such as attention deficit, anxiety disorders, learning difficulty, social adaptation problems, and depression may often accompany children with neurological problems.

Various examinations are performed in pediatric neurology to make a diagnosis and monitor the course of the disease. Among these, EEG (electroencephalography) evaluates brain electrical activity, while brain MRI and CT display structural abnormalities. EMG (electromyography) is used to determine muscle and nerve conduction disorders. Blood and urine tests help detect metabolic and genetic diseases. Genetic tests are especially important in diagnosing neurological developmental disorders. In addition, special examinations such as developmental tests, neuropsychological evaluations, and in some cases lumbar puncture (taking fluid from the lower back) may also be performed.

The treatment process varies according to the type of disease. Drug treatment, physical therapy, special education, and if necessary surgical methods are applied. Long-term follow-up and family support are the most important parts of the process.
