Pediatric Neurology Specialist
Prof. Dr. İlknur EROL
Born in Karabük in 1972, Prof. Dr. İlknur Erol completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Karabük. Between 1989 and 1996, she graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine (English Program).
Between 1997 and 2002, she completed her residency training in the Department of Child Health and Diseases at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. Then, between 2004 and 2008, she completed her subspecialty training in the Department of Pediatric Neurology at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine.
She gained significant momentum in her academic career by receiving the titles of Assistant Professor in 2008, Associate Professor in 2010, and Professor in 2015. In 2006, she pioneered the development of pediatric neurology services in the region by establishing the Pediatric Neurology Unit and Video EEG Unit at Adana Dr. Turgut Noyan Practice and Research Center.
Academic Leadership and Scientific Contributions
She served as the Head of the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine between 05/11/2012 and 05/11/2024. In addition, between 2016 and 2024, she held the position of Head of the Department of Child Health and Diseases, Adana Unit, at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine.
During this period, she chaired the organization of the 5th, 6th, and 7th Spring Pediatrics Congresses; and organized educational events such as the Epilepsy in Children Course, Pediatric Neurology Emergencies Course, and Acute Demyelinating Diseases in Children Course.
She also chaired the organization of the 1st Eastern Mediterranean Neurocutaneous Diseases Days – Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Symposium (2015) and the 2nd Eastern Mediterranean Neurocutaneous Diseases Days – Neurofibromatosis Symposium (2017). She served on the scientific committee of National Pediatric Neurology Congresses and gave numerous presentations. She also served on the scientific committee of the Academy of Pediatric Metabolic Diseases and gave numerous presentations. Prof. Dr. Erol has many scientific studies and citations published in national and international journals.
Clinical Experience and Current Work
Since 2025, she has been providing services in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases in children at her private practice, Prof. Dr. İlknur Erol Pediatric Neurology Clinic. She is especially experienced in epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, neurocutaneous syndromes, muscle diseases, and demyelinating diseases.
Her goal is to protect children’s neurological health, improve their quality of life, and guide them toward early diagnosis and correct treatment.
